Great post, Lynn, and very much what I've experienced with Calabar. Just the other day, cantering inside the round pen to the left, I kept getting the eyeball over his left shoulder. It seems I was somehow kicking his right "elbow" with my endurance stirrup.

Poor guy. The things he has to put up with--and does--mostly patiently.

You go girl! There's nothing like bringing an ex-racer into a new world. I've had a few that I brought along in the hunter world, one even went on to be a nice eventer. I even had an 11-yr old from Kentucky after an 8-year racing career that ended up foxhunting if you can believe that! I spent many years off being a busy mom, but am back in the saddle, mainly on warmbloods now - other's horses. But when I hop on the few TB's and APX's at the barn, I truly feel at home. You have a great program and when the time comes for me to get another horse of my own, I'll come here first!

Nice to hear that you and Lighting Ball are doing so well!
